Is this a law or something?
After decades of listening to Jazz at home or in clubs I came to the decision about a decade ago that I prefer to see and hear Jazz and big bands at a dance or at clubs that permit and encourage dancing. Younger dancers add so much energy to the situation and they make you feel good.
Who said Jazz had to be a sit down music?
And if you want to sit and listen, it is not hard to get a good seat with a good view. Yeah, it’s not a concert hall, but, man oh man, such a better vibe.
It was a joke, John . . . the Greenwich Village Bistro is just that, a bistro. A long narrow room with many small tables, so dancing might be perilous, occasionally, for the dancers and the diners. I agree with you completely about the good feelings between musicians, dancers, and the audience in general.
