Waldo’s Gotham City Band looks like a stellar group. A Delmark recording of Waldo’s Gutbucket Syncopaters from some time back still sounds just fine. Catch these guys, if you can.
I reviewed the CD reissue of that concert for Cadence — fine hot playing all around, and Edith Wilson’s I’M A GREAT BIG BABY will stick in my mind, endearingly and hilariously, for a long time.
