JOHN, DON AND LARRY SWING IT: MARCH 31, 1937

The eBay seller calls this an “ATTIC FINDING.” I am ten years away from having an attic, and mine never held such delights, but I am thrilled that someone’s attic yielded such a wonderful piece of paper.

GENE KRUPA TEDDY WILSON 1937 signatures

Explication du texte: John, Don, and Larry went to the Hotel Pennsylvania on Seventh Avenue in New York City and heard the Benny Goodman Orchestra — and one or all of them got the autographs of the masters, Gene Krupa and Teddy Wilson.  Lucky fellows.

“Swing It” indeed.

May your happiness increase!

  1. Hmmm… If the bottom bit isn’t Goodman’s writing, John, Don, and/or Larry must have had some forgery skills!

  2. As Lorenz Hart wrote, “It never entered my mind.” Looks like the King’s script, but I never knew him to be quite so generous with the words!

  3. Today is the 76th anniversary of the 1938 BG Carnegie Hall concert.

    Unmentioned everywhere.
