IDEAL PLACES: MINIMUM, THREE DOLLARS A PERSON

I think I had three dollars when this card was in vogue, although I was seriously underage . . .

CONDON'S circa 1958

but I can hear this band now — either in my imagination or in the Columbia sessions circa 1958.  They sound wonderful either way.  And Cliff Jackson!

Note to Bob Wilber: Does this seem familiar?

May your happiness increase!

Bob played with this wonderful group of musicians for several years at Condon’s-he has great memories!! !The same band came to UK in 1957-memorable for many reasons?*!!!

  2. GOOD OLD DAYS…..and Birdland was a buck…and Nicks wasn’t a garage and Art Hodes or Willie the Lion were across the street at The Riviera;;. and The Cafe Bohemia was called The Pied Piper, where James P. often played.

On the down side, we musicians needed to go downtown to be fingerprinted to get a Cabaret Card in order to play in nightclubs….Billie and Monk were denied same….MEMORIES, MEMORIES……..
    Joel Press……

…and Pete Pesci sometimes played trumpet. I’m with Joel, MEMORIES, SWEET, SWEET MEMORIES.
