LOW LIGHTS, MEMORABLE MUSIC: DAN BLOCK, BILL MORING, DAVE DeMOTTA at RUE B (April 27, 2015)

It’s always exciting and hopeful to watch a new place emerge where jazz can be played: warm, cozy Rue B, 188 Avenue B in New York City, where Dan Block, the magnificent reedman, played with Bill Moring, string bass, and Dave DeMotta, piano, on April 27, 2015.

Here are two performances from that night, with delightfully apt titles for memorable music performed without bright lights glaring in anyone’s faces.

Benny Carter’s WHEN LIGHTS ARE LOW, with the correct changes on the bridge:

I REMEMBER YOU, unforgettably:

Rue B features very intriguing cocktails and food — and, of course, lovely music.

May your happiness increase!
